Ohio's sports betting regulatory authority has put forward a new rule that would prevent licensed sportsbooks from accepting credit card deposits, a measure aimed squarely at reducing financially harmful wagering behaviour in the state. If enacted, Ohio would join a growing list of jurisdictions — including several in Europe and Australia — that have moved to restrict credit-funded betting as part of broader responsible-gambling reforms. The proposed rule is currently open for industry comment, and a final decision is expected later in the year.
