Square Enix Reveals Final Fantasy VII: Revelation as Remake Trilogy's Finale

Square Enix closed out Summer Game Fest 2026 by unveiling Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the third and concluding chapter of the Remake series, with director Naoki Hamaguchi introducing the debut trailer. The footage leaned heavily into open-world exploration, showing the Highwind airship ferrying players across the planet before they parachute into new areas to hunt down the giant WEAPONS creatures. Long-teased characters Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind finally appear as playable party members, joining a new job system that lets fighters like Tifa and Cloud switch roles such as Black Mage or Warrior. Revelation is slated for a simultaneous Spring 2027 release on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
