Xbox Reportedly Weighs Shutting Down Arkane Studios, Pulls Funding From IO Interactive's Next Game

Microsoft is said to be considering closing or selling several Xbox-owned studios, including Arkane Studios, as part of a new round of layoffs beginning July 6 that could also cancel the in-development title Blade. Separately, Xbox has exited its publishing deal for IO Interactive's unannounced project, forcing the Hitman studio to seek new funding or self-publish, which has triggered layoffs of its own. The moves follow a string of recent Xbox studio closures, including Ninja Theory, Double Fine and Compulsion Games.
