Finland's New iGaming Market Draws 50 License Applications Ahead of 2027 Launch

Finland's National Police Board reports it has received 50 applications for B2C online gambling licenses since the application window opened on March 1, 2026, with most submissions coming from foreign operators. Each application carries a €29,000 processing fee and an estimated six-month review period as regulators stand up the new licensing regime created under Finland's overhauled Gambling Act. The framework aims to end state operator Veikkaus's monopoly and bring both domestic and offshore gambling sites into a regulated market when it launches on July 1, 2027.
