Nintendo Preparing a Switch 2 With a Swappable Battery for the EU

Engadget · 2d ago

Nintendo is reportedly readying a European version of the Switch 2, with a battery that owners can replace themselves, and the Joy-Con 2 controllers are said to get the same treatment. The change lines up with the EU Battery Regulation, whose user-removable requirement takes effect on February 18, 2027. Reports say the revision is for Europe only, with Japan and the US keeping the current design. Coverage differs on how much Nintendo has confirmed itself.
