Albania's Gambling Supervision Authority has finished drafting the implementing rules needed to reopen the country's online sports betting market, setting up a competitive process that will award licenses to as many as 10 operators. Applicants will have to clear a scoring system and pay a non-refundable fee once the formal application window opens, a structure regulators hope will pull existing gray-market betting activity into a taxed, supervised system. The controlled approach is expected to make Albania an appealing entry point for international sportsbook operators eyeing the Balkans.
