State of Decay 3 Finally Shows Real Gameplay at Xbox Games Showcase

Undead Labs used the Xbox Games Showcase to debut the first proper gameplay footage of State of Decay 3, an Unreal Engine 5 sequel set on a map roughly four times the size of a single State of Decay 2 map. The reveal highlighted shared-world co-op for up to four survivors, reworked melee combat, settlement building, and Plague Nests — dungeon-like infestations that act on their own escalating agenda. The studio says the trailer is entirely in-game capture with no CGI, and the sequel is targeting a 2027 launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Game Pass, and PlayStation 5.
