Ubisoft Shutters Winnipeg and Belgrade Studios in Sixth 2026 Layoff Round

Ubisoft has closed its Winnipeg, Canada and Belgrade, Serbia development studios, cutting roughly 380 jobs in what is now the publisher's sixth restructuring wave of 2026. The Winnipeg closure is especially significant since the studio served as a specialized support hub for Ubisoft's proprietary engine tech and had been working on Rainbow Six Mobile, which launched globally less than four months ago. Combined with earlier cuts in Barcelona and Montréal, Ubisoft's total headcount has fallen from over 20,000 in 2023 to around 16,590 today, underscoring the publisher's prolonged downsizing.
